A little bit about Taylors, SC

iStock-1160023893 1920x1080.jpeg

Brushy Creek’s mailing address is Taylors, but we’re one of the larger churches in Greenville County, and we’re credited with helping build the city of Greenville’s religious foundation that crosses denominational lines.

Nestled in the foothills of western South Carolina, Greenville has drawn a lot of international attention in the past ten years. Forbes, Travel & Leisure, The New York Times, Boston Globe, Trip Advisor, US News & World Reports, and Southern Living are but a few that have thrown awards at Greenville including “Best Downtown,” “Best Place to Retire,” “Best Place to Move,” “Best Place to Live,” “Most Scenic,” “Best City,” “Best Place to Raise a Family.” And the list goes on. #YeahThatGreenville

But what’s it like to really live and work in Greenville? Honestly? We don’t want more headlines. We like Greenville the way it is now. Traffic’s not big-city bad. People are nice and friendly. We have just the right amount of art, culture, restaurants, sporting, and entertainment events. We have the state’s top-ranking public schools, as well as excellent higher ed institutions including Furman University, Bob Jones University, North Greenville University, and this little school called Clemson University just down the road. Major league teams are 90 minutes away in Charlotte, or two hours away in Atlanta. You can wake up and visit the Blue Ridge mountains, or Carolina shore, by lunch if you wish.

When it comes to general lifestyle preferences, Greenville is overall cautious and conservative. Voting across the last four presidential elections proves this sentiment. You’ll sometimes hear, “Greenville is the buckle of the Bible belt.” Brushy Creek benefits from this by operating within an environment that is generally open, positive, and welcoming to Christians.
