Position - Executive Pastor

About the Position:

The Executive Pastor should be a strong leader with a heart for ministry and experience with church operations. This person will help Gateway implement the changes necessary to prepare for future growth. This position will work closely with and report directly to the senior pastor.

RESPONSIBILITIES
 

  • Chair monthly business leadership team meetings

  • Oversee the financial operations of the church

  • Lead the Gateway Finance Team

  • Negotiate, approve, sign and renew all contracts

  • Oversee and provide direction as needed for Gateway’s policies and procedures

  • Oversee creation and implementation of a long-range plan

  • Oversee the HR Team

  • Oversee the Gateway facilities

  • Work with the senior pastor to create a culture of financial stewardship

  • Create/improve church-wide communication systems

  • Serve as the staff liaison to the deacon body

  • Supervise Gateway Preschool Academy

  • Supervise non-executive level staff

  • Organize structures for new ministries

  • Optimize current ministry structures


REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 10 years experience as an executive pastor or similar role

  • Understand and embrace the mission, strategy, values and objectives of Gateway

  • Ability to influence the decisions of leaders, staff, and volunteers

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • In-depth knowledge of internal organizational structure and business operations

  • Ability to analyze information to identify potential problems

  • Business and financial acumen

  • Familiarity with construction and building systems

  • Management and supervisory expertise

  • Commitment to excellence and a strong work ethic

  • Ability to maximize church software
