Position - Worship Pastor

About the Position:

The Worship Pastor of Crossroads Baptist Church provides oversight and direction to the church’s ministries involving music, audio/visual technology, and creative arts. He will work with the Senior Pastor to determine the Holy Spirit’s leadership in developing a worship vision for the church and will then lead the church in planning, conducting, and evaluating a comprehensive worship ministry based on that vision.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the church’s entire music ministry.

  2. Assist the Senior Pastor in planning and leading the worship services of the church.

  3. Lead and direct adult choir rehearsals and ensure that other groups, soloists, instrumentalists, or other participants in worship are prepared for their assigned tasks.

  4. Supervise and coordinate the paid and volunteer music and worship team, including instrumentalists as well as technical assistants, interns, or other assistants in the area of worship.

  5. Oversee the technical aspects of worship, including all audio-visual and lighting features.

  6. Enlist leaders and workers for various age-group choirs and other groups as deemed appropriate.

  7. Provide training and resources for all workers in the church’s music ministries.

  8. Prepare and submit annual music ministry and media budgets and oversee expenditures from those approved budgets during the year.

  9. Supervise the organization of the music library.

  10. Supervise the maintenance of all items related to the church’s music and media ministries, including musical instruments and all sound, lighting, and multi-media equipment.

  11. Coordinate the church’s music calendar and special events to complement the emphases of the church’s ministry.

  12. Assist with weddings, funerals, and other special programs, projects, or church-related activities as needed.

General Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Senior Pastor and other staff members in reaching out to the community and in meeting the needs of the church family through such ministries as counseling, hospital visitation, contact during times of bereavement, and other situations requiring personal care.

  2. Attend staff meetings and be a part of overseeing the overall work of the church with the ministerial staff team, including vision casting, evaluating the church’s programs and events, calendar planning, and coordinating the allocation of resources.

  3. Perform other acts of ministry as directed by the Senior Pastor and/or the Executive Pastor.

  5. Possesses strong relational skills and a love for people inside and outside the church.

  6. Is a disciple-maker, who creates and grows discipleship through leadership and communication; he practices personal evangelism.

  7. Has a proven heart and track record for supporting, promoting, and engaging in Gospel missions.

  8. Collaborates well with others and is teachable.

  9. Possesses excellent communication skills in writing and speaking.

  10. Fully aligned with and supportive of the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.

  11. Provides a demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning and personal development.

  12. Possesses 5+ years of (ordained) pastoral ministry experience.

  13. Possesses an undergraduate degree (highly preferred) and a seminary degree (preferred).
