The Position - Minister of Music and Worship

Our Mission:

The First Baptist Church of Port Saint Joe exists to glorify God and be on mission with Him by winning those who are lost and leading them to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

About Us:

First Baptist Church of Port Saint Joe will shine the light of Jesus Christ in our community, our region, and our world, and inspire and equip every generation to know and do God’s Word, fulfill His Gospel commission, and honor His commands to love God and our neighbors. (We will be a multi-generational, Christ-exalting, Gospel-driven, Bible-teaching, community-engaging, world-reaching, and God- and people-loving church.)

Please know that on October 10, 2018, we lost our church facility due to a direct hit from Category 5 Hurricane Michael. Our Recovery/Rebuild process is underway, and the church will be relocating to 18 acres of newly purchased land (while holding on to its existing 4 acres downtown), and building a brand new modern facility on our new property with expected completion in 2022. Worship services are currently being held in the Port Saint Joe Elementary School auditorium, which works quite nicely for us, while using our own state-of-the-art sound equipment.

A little bit about Port St. Joe, FL

Lighthouse.webp
  • Port Saint Joe is a small-but-newly-post-Hurricane-growing county-seat town in the northern panhandle of FL, located directly on the coast of the St. Joseph Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. Our area is a beach-lovers’ and fishing paradise, offering some of the most pristine natural beauty in the world. We are a tourism-friendly town, with a number of seasonal and part-time residents who own their second and third homes here, making housing increasingly expensive and a little challenging to find. We have two traffic lights, one primary grocery store, several good Mom-and-Pop retail stores and businesses, and a good number of local restaurants for a town our size.

  • One tradeoff for our local beauty and laid-back lifestyle is our remoteness. The nearest Wal-Mart and Starbucks are 35 miles away in the Panama City area, Tallahassee is about a two-hour drive, and the nearest metropolitan areas are 3+ hours away, including Pensacola, Mobile, and Jacksonville. We are pretty much 5-6 hours each from Orlando, Tampa, Atlanta, and New Orleans.

  • Our schools have a rich history and are especially well-known for competitiveness in sports. In fact, sports – high school and rec league – are huge in our town. There are currently about 65-70 students in each grade. Also, our town does have a Christian school, and our church is including school capabilities in our new building.

  • Please know that on October 10, 2018, we lost our church facility due to a direct hit from Category 5 Hurricane Michael.
