Position - Minister of Music

About the Position:
 

The Minister of Music is responsible for modeling, serving, and leading the body of Christ to Love God, Love Others, and Serve the World through the music ministries of the church.

Responsibilities:

  1. Administrative Leadership

    • Commit to positive relationships and communication with the Sr. Pastor and other ministry staff leaders.

    • Commit to positive relationships with church lay leadership, and general church family.

    • Develop a long-range vision for the music ministry that complements the vision of Maysville Baptist Church.

    • Establish and present goals for achieving that vision, organize, coordinate, communicate, implement, and evaluate total worship and music ministry including the music of all ages, audio, video, lighting, drama, etc.

    • Facilitate and maintain stewardship over the budget of the entire worship and music ministry.

    • Mobilize the necessary resources for the worship and music ministry.

    • Maintain and supervise equipment and instruments.

    • Staff and help equip the music ministry leadership.

    • Coordinate and approve music for worship, funerals, weddings, etc.

  2. Congregational Leadership

    • Work with the Sr. Pastor and other worship leadership in developing and implementing meaningful worship experiences for the congregation.

    • Develop and lead the congregation in biblical worship education.

    • Coordinate music for revivals and other church-wide emphases.

    • Coordinate specialized music education opportunities (i.e. music academies, leadership training, etc.).

  3. Choral and Drama Leadership

    • Children

      • Enlist and develop children’s choir ministry leadership.

      • Coordinate and promote children’s choir ministry.

      • Be personally involved in children’s choir ministry.

      • Oversee Special/Seasonal productions

    • Middle School and High School

      • Enlist and develop Middle and High School choir ministry leadership.

      • Coordinate and promote Middle and High School choir ministry.

      • Be personally involved in Middle and High School choir ministry.

      • Oversee Special/Seasonal productions.

      • Supervise choral ministry development and enlistment.

      • Supervise development and promotion of age-group ensembles.

      • Be involved in the development of individual musicians through vocal training, literature input, and discipleship.

    • Adult

      • Supervise choral ministry development and enlistment.

      • Supervise development and promotion of age-group ensembles.

      • Be involved in the development of individual musicians through vocal training, literature input, and discipleship.

      • Oversee Special/Seasonal productions.

    • Drama

      • Plan and organize productions that will include, but not be limited to, seasonal presentations.

      • Manage and provide leadership for set designs.

      • Manage and provide leadership for light and sound.

      • Manage and provide leadership for cast and crew.

      • Ensure that each dramatic production emphasizes the Gospel.

  4. Instrumental Leadership

    • Accompanists

      • Provide training opportunities and resources.

      • Provide consistent communication.

    • Other Instrumentalists

      • Coordinate the enlistment, development, and training for

      • instrumentalists for ministry through solo work, ensembles,

      • orchestras, praise bands, etc.

      • Coordinate music selection.

      • Coordinate the scheduling of all instrumental ministry activities.

    • Audio and Visual Leadership

      • Coordinate with Audio and Visual Pastor for sound, lighting, and video to ensure words on the screen are grammatically correct and that copyrights and licenses are honored.

  5. Ministerial Leadership

    • Pastoral Care

      • Be aware of the spiritual needs of the ministry area.

      • Be consistent in contacting membership (phone calls, emails, visitation, etc.).

      • Be active in discipleship and encouragement.

      • Be involved in assisting those called to music ministry.

      • Be involved in assisting in hospital visitation and building lock- up/security when scheduled.

      • Maintain regular office hours to ensure the completion of ministry requirements.

    • Outreach and Missions

      • Be involved in regular visitation and outreach ministries.

      • Be actively involved in the community.

      • Activate the music ministry in missions through service projects and tours.

  6. Personal Leadership

    • Spiritual and Professional Development

      • Possess a commitment for ongoing skill development through state convention training opportunities, seminary studies, or other conferences and workshops.

      • Possess a commitment for continued discipleship, accountability, and biblical stewardship.

    • Family

      • Spend quality time and adequate time with family.

      • Understand and practice biblical family values.

      • Fulfill the role of Godly husband and father.

      • Practice sound financial habits.

    • Health and Leisure

      • Commit to good physical health.

Education & Experience:

This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree preferable in worship leadership, musical studies, biblical studies, ministry, or a similar discipline. The successful person in this position will be a strong leader with a solid work ethic, possessing a passion to prepare the hearts of God’s people to receive His message.
