About the Position:
Renewal Church seeks a spiritually growing and experienced full-time Groups and Discipleship Pastor to build a strong adult ministry. The Groups and Discipleship Pastor will lead a diverse community of followers to grow spiritually through small groups and discipleship experiences to be executed with excellence through the recruiting, training, and development of coaches and leaders. This individual will closely collaborate with the Lead Pastor in formulating the group leader experience. The successful candidate will have proven experience recruiting coaches as well as training volunteers as they offer insight, direction, and value to the discipleship pathway. Pay range depends on experience, education, and skills. We are committed to paying enough for pastors and their families to live in or near the city.

Qualifications:

 

Experience and Skills:

  • A proven track record of leading groups ministry (3-7 years) successfully in an appropriate church context

  • Experience providing Bible-based pastoral counseling to the single and married 

  • Develop and deliver a compelling theological, singleness, or marriage seminar

  • Effectively recruit and train small group coaches and leaders in a proven small group system

  • A demonstrated commitment to living in community

  • Host worship services and/or preach on request of Lead Pastor (dependent on desire and skill)

  • Experience making disciples in smaller group settings or cohorts

  • Skilled in the use of technology for group communication and promotion 


 

Culture and Fit:

  • A desire for unity among diverse people and comfort working with various ethnic and racial backgrounds

  • Skill leading the church in discipleship with an awareness that non-Christians are participating and investigating Christianity

  • Plan and organize in advance as well as adjust very quickly to any change that might need to be made

  • Proven ability training leaders and volunteers (both practically and spiritually) within a small group ministry.

  • A self-starter who takes ownership of ministry and works rigorously toward improvement

  • Enjoys living in a big city
