The purpose of Surety Community Church is to bring glory to God by worshipping the Lord in righteousness and holiness, by evangelizing the lost, by edifying and equipping the saints through Bible-centered preaching and teaching, and by dwelling together in warm Christian fellowship.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning our weekly Sunday 10:30am worship service. Choosing congregational hymns and songs that engage the congregation and support the reading and preaching of God’s Word

  • Modeling and leading heartfelt worship in an invitational style – that draws people in, encourages participation, and points people to Jesus

  • Recruiting, auditioning, teaching, and training musicians in the church to serve the congregation as a team with musical skill and humility

  • Leading weekly rehearsals that serve a dual purpose:

              (1) preparation for Sunday

              (2) cultivation of Christ-centered community

  • Building on our traditions and having a vision for where God might be calling our congregation and our musicians to grow in new expressions of worship

  • Serving as a member of the ministry team at Surety Community Church, demonstrating a commitment to this congregation and its mission

  • Oversee the AV/Production team and volunteers

  • Lead additional services (mid-week, evening, etc.)

  • Oversee other groups within your church (acolytes, readers, ushers, choirs, etc.)

  • Do something in that individual’s particular area of strength, like media, communications, video, training, preaching, youth, etc

  • Move beyond a mainly musical role with the team to a more pastoral role with the team, cultivating a worship community of singers and instrumentalists within your church

This individual is expected to: 

     (A) be gifted in leading congregational worship

     (B) possess leadership and organizational skills

     (C) be a team player.

 

  • Serve as youth advocate. On a regular basis, educating and enlightening the congregation about the hopes, concerns and needs of the youth in the local church and community

  • Collaborate with church leaders in planning, developing and implementing all aspects of a balanced and engaging youth ministry

  • Research resources and make recommendations for developing the youth ministry programming

  • Pursue and participate in continuing education events and training opportunities within youth ministry

  • Recruit and train volunteers to work in all aspects of youth ministry

  • Ensure adequate volunteer support and adult to youth ratios

  • Maintain accurate records of youth participation

  • Manage and compile youth ministry budget for reporting purposes

  • Communicate with church leadership, staff, parents and congregation in a timely manner utilizing available resources (email, website, bulletin, newsletter, bulletin board, etc.)

  • Maintain a flexible schedule that allows for approved and scheduled sit visits with youth in variety of ways (i.e., attendance at extracurricular activities, times of crisis, etc.)

  • Collaborate with church staff members in a cohesive and open team environment

  • Mentor youth and provide counseling and spiritual direction that aligns with church ministry strategy and plans

  • Preach and teach biblically sound sermons and Bible studies as assigned by the Senior Pastor

  • Provide oversight and direct supervision to volunteer youth leaders, youth ministry leaders and other staff and volunteers

  • Perform other ministry tasks as assigned by the Senior Pastor

  • Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job
