Denomination - Southern Baptist

Weekly Attendance - 750

Location - New Bern, North Carolina

Position - Worship Pastor

About the Church:

Our Sunday morning Worship Services reflect a contemporary style of music that compliments the day’s theme and sermon.  If we identify music worship styles on a scale with traditional worship at “0” and extreme contemporary Christian music as a “10”…we would be around an “8.5”. The Worship Pastor is expected to lead the worship team, worship band, praise singers, incorporate multi-media, scripture readings, drama, choir, soloists, and persons of all ages.  We regularly involve both a lead worship team, band, and choir in our services.  Our Worship Ministry produces annual celebrations at Christmas and Easter.  These celebrations are creative and unique productions that involve large numbers of people.

About the Position:

The Worship Pastor is a full-time position who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, is consistently growing in faith, and openly extends God's grace to those far from Him.  This position will be responsible for all aspects of worship ministry.

A little bit about New Bern, NC

New Bern NC.jpeg

New Bern is a community of approximately 30,000 in the city limits and 60,000 in the immediate area. We are located where the Neuse and Trent Rivers converge. It is a very historical area (original capital of NC) and has a quaint downtown with a small convention center. The Atlantic Ocean is about 45 miles away. We currently have an excellent Weekday Preschool (200+ children) and will open the Temple Christian Academy in September (Kindergarten-6th Grade). While housing in New Bern is currently expensive, as the rest of the country is, there are homes available and many new homes are under construction. We are 15 miles from Cherry Point Marine Corps Base. 45 minutes from Greenville (East Carolina University). And 21⁄2 hours from Raleigh. We have a regional airport.

Community events and ministry outreach:

  • After Hurricane Florence hit New Bern, Temple Church became the base of operations for

NC Disaster Relief, hosting over 250+ volunteers each night for over 6 months and feeding 20,000 people per day.

  • MumFest is a combination of family fun, entertainment, attractions, exhibitors and great food in the beautifully restored setting of historic downtown New Bern and its waterfront. About 70,000 festival-goers enjoyed Mumfestivities in 2021.

  • Mobile Vietnam Memorial Wall (hosted Sunday closing ceremony with Lt. Col. Oliver

    North)

  • Temple Church worked together with the New Bern Theater to host performances of A Christmas Carol.

  • Temple Church hosts several annual motorcycle rides to raise financial support (NC Children’s Home, East Carolina Women’s Shelter). We actually put over 30 motorcycles on

    the stage one year.

  • Temple Church sends out 3-4 mission teams each year (Tanzania, Mexico, Appalachian Mountains, etc.) and support two orphanages (Tanzania, Haiti).

  • Temple Church has an excellent counseling ministry that is available to the public.
